  7. The rising popularity of Windows applications in network-based business
  8. information systems has created a need for supporting the Windows Dynamic Data
  9. Exchange protocol transparently over networks. Wonderware's NetDDE product line
  10. allows DDE interactions over networks between similar and/or different
  11. operating environments, such as Windows, OS/2, UNIX, and VMS. Windows
  12. applications on separate nodes of a network can interact via DDE just as if
  13. they were resident on the same machine. In addition, these applications can use
  14. DDE to interact with applications running in UNIX or VAX/VMS environments. This
  15. interaction is currently supported on DECnet, NetBIOS, Novell, and TCP/IP based
  16. networks, as well as Serial connections.
